For a facility manager, the air conditioning or heat failing is a major headache. Fortunately, many of the most common HVAC system issues can be prevented with ongoing service and maintenance. Here&#8217;s a look at some of the most common issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Heating or Cooling Failure<\/strong>. One of the most common and most problematic issues facilities face is when the heating or cooling fails. Emergency service calls are expensive and occupants aren\u2019t going to be happy if the air conditioning isn\u2019t working on a 90-degree day. Routine maintenance is the best way to avoid costly and stressful emergency failures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New or louder noises. <\/strong>HVAC noises can be very disruptive to occupants. They can also indicate something is wrong with your commercial HVAC facility. Worn out, loose, or poorly lubricated equipment can lead to loud noises. If you hear new noises, give your HVAC technician a call and schedule an inspection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thermostat Calibration.<\/strong> The most visible part of your HVAC system is another common source of problems. In many cases, simple fixes like replacing the batteries is all that\u2019s needed. Your HVAC service technician can also help you calibrate your thermostat if that\u2019s the issue. Your thermostat controls your building temperature so it\u2019s an important player in the system as a whole.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Decline in Efficiency. <\/strong>A spike in your facility\u2019s energy bills is an indicator of another common issue: inefficiency. If you\u2019re experiencing spikes in your energy bill that aren\u2019t related to significant changes in weather, you\u2019ll want to have your system inspected.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Poor indoor air quality (IAQ). <\/strong>It can be easy to forget to replace filters but they are a critical component in indoor air quality. Another indicator that the IAQ isn\u2019t up to par is increased humidity levels.
